  1. What is the difference between the sky and space?

  • The visible portion of the atmosphere and the outer space seen by us with our naked eyes without any equipment is known as the sky.
  • Whereas the infinite expanse of our universe which contains our solar system, stars, celestial bodies, galaxies is known as space.
  • Sky is a smaller part of the space.


  1. What is meant by space observation? Why is it important?
  • The study of planets stars, other celestial objects and galaxies using satellites, telescopes etc. to understand the structure of the universe is known as space observation.
  • Space observation gives us detailed information about the planets, comets, stars, galaxies and other celestial bodies.
